Organizing School's Event (SKYCup)

The student council planned to hold a sport competition between schools. We decided the name of the event "SKY Cup" (SMIS Knights Youth Cup). The purpose of this activity is to build good relationship between schools, make new friends/connection. It was a one-week event. There were basketball, futsal and floor ball competitions. Around 20 schools participated in this event.
The crews were super busy selling t-shirts for promotion, try to find sponsors to raise money, making nametags for every participants, etc.
The event went great until the end and all participants were very satisfied with the service. This event actually has been planned every year since the last 3 academic years but this haven't been accomplished by any batch of student council so we were very proud and happy.
Even though there were some conflicts between the crews, I think We've tried our best to make this event. Everyone was working very hard to make things done on time. We sacrificed our free time to finish every work. To improve the quality of the event, I think we all need to finish all the work at least a week before so we get more time to prepare ourselves.

Organizing School's Event (Valentine's Day)

The Valentine’s Day are coming, the councils plan to make some kind of party on Valentine’s Day. The purpose of the event is togetherness, we want to see the students get to know each other more, so there will be no more boundary between seniors and juniors.

The councils were out of money, so we planned to raise some money for the dinner, decorations and everything else. We also sell and deliver roses, chocolates and cookies. We bake our cookies by ourselves. That was one pretty busy day.

On the 14th of February, the venue is beautifully decorated, the stage is set, the lighting is on, the sound systems are ready and the food are served. The event went better than expected. We all had fun night.

I believe that if we put enough effort and do it more serious, the event would be so much better. I think we need more teamwork. All student councils should be more active during the event and help each other.

Fund Raising and Campaign

Our school held an Entrepreneurship Day on Saturday. It actually held for us to sell and make profits and each class compete against each other. Creativity and the profits are going to be score by the judges. The more creative the concept of the booth will be given extra points and the class who earn the most money will be the winner.
Our class decided to make a small campaign about global warming, sell recycled goods and cookies. The aim of this activity is to raise awareness of the global warming and endangered animals. The profit is going to be donated to the WWF. About a week before, we made some posters for the campaign. Collecting used jeans and made bow hairpins out of them. Turning used magazine and papers into books. Picking leaves laminate them and made them into bookmarks.
Our class got around 1.5 million rupiah and also we made it to the first place. The first place got around Rp. 500,000. In total we got around 2 million rupiah. As I mentioned, the profits will goes to the WWF, so we donated Rp. 500,000 and become a member of the WWF to support the animals from extinction.
I believe that we've done a really great job in delivering information about the danger of global warming to the parents, students and even teachers that attended the event. We also asked them to help the endangered animals through donation. We worked together as a team and help each other when needed help. Everyone in our class have participated in the event. I think if we were given more time to prepare and to decorate, I think our booth will be much nicer and more organized.

Knitting

I’ve been interested to learn how to knit since I was a kid, but I never tried until my mom sends me off to a knitting course. The teacher told me to make a scarf since I was a beginner. I learned the basic knitting stuffs such as make a slip knot, casting on and casting on.
I had some difficulties in the beginning.  I was having a hard time to get the needle into the stitches and my teacher told me that I knitted too tightly. Once I get it right, it wasn’t that hard. It’s actually very fun thing to do, I spent hours

on knitting and rushing to finish the scarf because I just can’t wait to see the final result.
After I finished my first scarf, I went to the store and bought different kind of yarns and make another scarves. I also learned how to make beanies and pompom. It was really fun learning new tricks.
I’ve been really enthusiastic in the class and I think I did great. I gave my best try to knit as tidy as possible and I struggle some time when I made some mistake and I have to go back several rows and start all over again. I really enjoyed knitting and I really look forward to learn different styles and tricks of knitting.

International Day

Our school held an International Day event. Each class got their own theme. We were asked to open a booth, do a performance and also decorate our class. We decided to decorate our class with Chinese ornaments, do a performance and sell Chinese foods and Chinese paper cutting to raise some money for the orphanage.
We need about a whole school week to finish them all. First, we made the decorations such as Chinese lanterns, Chinese firecrackers and also Chinese paper cutting for raise money.
After finished the class decorating, we start to prepare the performance. We decided to sing a Chinese song ‘宁夏’and we also prepares some simple moves. We repeat practicing so many times since some of us can’t pronounce the words correctly and keep making mistakes in the same part since the words are hard to pronounce.
Then the day before the event, we go to the market and buy the things we need to sell. It costs around Rp. 500,000 to buy all the things.
We sold the stuffs and got around Rp. 1022,000. So it’s around Rp. 500,000 profit. We decided to buy foods and goods for the less fortunate.
I think we have done a great team work during the class decoration and during the fund raising. But if we need more time preparation to improve the quality of the work.
